This is for a good cause. There is going to be 3 days of events in New York City to help raise money for the first responders and to seek truth from our government. People are coming from all over the world.
I started a thread in Current Events about what's happening in New York City from Sept 9th to the 11th. You can see it here.
I'm working with We Are Change and other organizations to help make it a successful 3 days and raise as much money for the first responders as possible. This is a non-profit event with all proceeds going directly to the first responders.
In the hours, days, and weeks following 9/11, New Yorkers and Americans from all across the country said goodbye to their families and traveled to New York City to assist in the recovery and rebuilding process at Ground Zero. Every breath they took was filled with determination to make the wrong right. Every breath they took engulfed their bodies with air contaminated by thousands of tons of asbestos, lead, chromium, benzene, PCBs, dioxins, highly caustic cement dust and hundreds of other dangerous substances.
Today, tens of thousands of such first responders are in dire need of medical care due to the environmental conditions after 3 towers imploded at Ground Zero. Diagnosed with cancers and debilitating respiratory illnesses, these true American heroes have been denied the financial benefits required to save their lives. While suffering and deteriorating, their health crisis has been ignored by state and federal policy.
Many have already died.
I know many can't afford travel and 3 days in New York City. Of course the more bodies we can get in New York City the better but at the end of the day it's about helping these sick and dying people.
I've seen these forums come together for many "projects" and now I'm asking you to come together for another. There are 4 ways to help.
1. Be in New York City Sept 9th through the 11th or at least on the 11th.
4. Contact me through PM. I will collect donations and bring them to New York City on Sept 9th and donate them in the name of the GodSmack Fan Forums.
The choice is yours but I ask, please donate something. Also remember for the first responders this doesn't end Sept 11th. You can always stop by the FeelGood Foundation to make a donation.
We do need as many bodies as possible in New York City. Things are being done in this country and around the world in our name and our views are not being listened to. We need to stand up together and tell our government enough is enough. It's time people are held accountable for their mistakes, for their lies, for their crimes. We also need to stand up and say listen to and help the Heroes of the most tragic day in American history. Will you speak up?
Please do whatever you can to help this cause. Thank you.

First they came for the Muslims, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Muslim.
Then they came for the immigrants, detaining them indefinitely solely on the certification of the attorney general, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't an immigrant.
Then they came to eavesdrop on suspects consulting with their attorneys, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a suspect.
Then they came to prosecute noncitizens before secret military commissions, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a noncitizen.
Then they came to enter homes and offices for unannounced "sneak and peak" searches, and I didn't speak up because I had nothing to hide.
Then they came to arrest American citizens and hold them indefinitely without any charges and without access to lawyers, and I didn't speak up because I would never be arrested.
Then they came to institute TIPS (Terrorism Information and Prevention System) recruiting citizens to spy on other citizens and I didn't speak up because I was afraid.
Then they came for anyone who objected to government policy because it only aided the terrorists and gave ammunition to America's enemies, and I didn't speak up ... because I didn't speak up.
Then they came for me, and by that time, no one was left to speak up.
WILL YOU SPEAK UP?

You have stated my feelings so well How do we get people to start thinking in this same manner? I feel so strongly about the government making its citizens feel scared and afraid so that we feel like they, the government, are the only ones who can make us feel safe and protected When they are the ones we should be afraid of I wish I could be in N.Y. but will help out with this cause in any way that I can Thank you so much for the information

Thanks for the reply.
You can easily make donations through either of the links I posted.
I'm not sure how much time I'll have to get online during the weekend to update on the events but I will definitely post after, pictures and all.
To anyone else reading this thread
This isn't only happening to First Responders, NYPD, NYFD and other rescue workers. Based on the White House/EPA lie this is also happening to everyday people. Based on the lie about air quality in Lower Manhattan people were sent back to work, sent back home, kids were sent back to school. More people will die in the years to come due to this lie than those who died on 9/11 itself.
THE TIME TO SPEAK UP IS NOW!!

I also heard about Ellis Island but I've been so busy between work and getting ready for these events in the city I haven't had time to look into it. I'll check it out when I get back on the 12th and let you know what I come up with.

My dad's side is Polish, my Nana and her husband came over here on Ellis Island when she was pregnant with my daddy. It's really cool to look up the history and see their names. Our last name changed upon arrival for some reason.
I'm almost done with my family tree. A few months ago I just had a stump now it's almost a full tree, lol.
