Hand, because I can use any number of things. Thick or thin yarn, embroidery thread. Plus, can use whatever color we choose.

I meant on my baby quilts. Not this quilt, which would be a toddler/big girl quilt.

Now, what colors? Do we want to stick with girly colors, or just use whatever we want? I personally would like us to just use whatever we want. Whatcha think, girls and guys?

i'd say girly but more to neutral ? how do we know if she's going to be a girly girl or maybe not so much as with lil closer to neutral color may tend to go with her decor as she grows ? if grows to hate pink + its pink will go in a closet ? hmmm.... something to think about seeing its hoping that will grow with her ? wanted to add too that 12 ppl 24 sqares ? we each doing 2 ? sorry lil lost on that bit of info if some1 can explain ? if doing 2 thats cool just wanna know ahead of time , 1 will be a challenge enough ROTFL!!

my happy place + my bud

One more step and I could fall away
If it happened would it matter anyway ?

Nothing has been settled on as far as color. But, you're right. Maybe we stick to any color, and then I can look at the squares, and we can decide then. Just throwing ideas out there. As far as number of squares, if you think you can only do 1, no big deal. That is why we are doing this so early. That way, after the holidays, we can see how many we have. If more is needed, then we can ask for more.

we're up to lucky 13 now!!

i like the idea of tying. witchy said our squares for nianni's quilt were an 8 square work area. my bad - for some reason i thought they were bigger but we did have plenty of room w/them. my middle square for jess had a lot of empty space but toni did a cool border for it for me so it turned out good.

as far as color - the squares will be diverse enough that that doesn't really matter. where the main color comes in is w/the backing and borders. i do think we should stick to a girlish theme w/o going overboard. even tomboy girls like girly stuff sometimes.

*snorts* too funny!!!
this reminds me of a south of the border sign that has a pic of a 3d sausage on it. it says;
"you never sausage a place,
you're always a weiner at pedro's!!"
it's my favorite sob sign (and there are tons of them on I95).

So, smaller squares like Nianni's? That would be better, so there is not a lot of empty space.

naw, that's not what i was saying - i was saying our squares for nianni's quilt were smaller which is prolly why the extra quilting wasn't needed.
some really like the larger squares for creative freedom.

I usually tie baby quilts.

Here is what i am talking about-
http://home.howstuffworks.com/tying-quilts.htm

The only ting I would do different than the pics in the link, is put the ties and knots on the back. I will have to make a tiny stitch in the center of each square. And if you guys glue anything, I will have to stitch it down, but I can use invisible thread.

I like this idea!!! Especially if you'll use the invisable thread. And I also prefer the bigger squares myself.

Like I mentioned before, I like to make a cross-stitch pattern that I want to put on my square (one of them). Do I have to do anything special with it before I put it on my square? Iron it on the back I guess, but then? Do I have to wash it first?

As for the colors, I have to go with Kat: Use any color on the squares and see what we'll do with the backing and borders. It's gonna be difficult because we won't know what she'll like when she's older. And there is no way to find out unless someone knows how to travel through time....A girlish theme w/o going overboard sounds great to me.

I saw this online: girly, but not toooooo pink:

Here's a link to that website:
http://www.fabricfindersinc.com/prints.shtml

maybe we can check it out for idea's???

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been around this last week, but college is kicking my ARSE! So do we have deadlines set for anything yet? Tam, I love the material! I could work with 12 inch squares, but would prefer 10 inch ones myself. I think we could go with any color on this one since the sashing would unite it all. So how bout it...are we setting a deadline for people to sign up for this project? I think it would be a good idea.
