Very freaky...I just had to share and get your thoughts. Last night, about an hour before bedtime out of nowhere I start getting all these very dark feelings. Like a heavy cloud moving in from nowhere. Bad thoughts like what if the house caught fire, what if someone breaks in, what if what if....how would I protect my kids. It was such a heaviness that I had to pray to my God to lift the thoughts so I could go go sleep. I remember thinking where is all this coming from out of nowhere.
At 5:00 o'clock the next morning, my dog woke me to the sound of gunshots. Down my street the cops had tried to take a fugitive into custody. Short chase followed with the fugitive being shot dead by the cops. His two kids were nearby, but not hurt.
Coincidence right?

I dont believe in coincidences... I've had premonitions like that before.
Seven brides serve me seven sins Seven seas writhe for me From Orient gates to R'lyeh Abydos to Thessaly And Sirens sing from stern But now I cease to play For I yearn to return To woodland ferns Where Herne and his wild huntress lay ------------ Damon Salvatore: What's so special about this Bella girl? Edward's so wipped. Caroline Forbes: You have to read the first book first, otherwise it won't make sense. Damon Salvatore: Uh, I miss Anne Rice, she was so on it. Caroline Forbes: Hey, how come you don't sparkle? Damon Salvatore: Because I live in the real world where vampires burn in the sun. Caroline Forbes: Yeah, but you go in the sun. Damon Salvatore: I have a ring, it protects me. It's complicated." http://the-dark-gift.deviantart.com/ http://www.myspace.com/the_dark_giftxxx
the whole world is connected thru a common web. we can feel the energies of things about to happen sometimes. some of us are more in tune with the ability than others and can see what may happen and others just get a general "feeling" but yes I believe it is real and not coincidence .

I agree with everyone else. Trust those feelings. Whether small or great. And they may, sometimes, make you feel silly. But I have never doubted them since I did once, and it went all bad with me.
I get the 'small' feelings when it comes to issues like decision making. I mean, really vague ones....like which street Id rather take to get somewhere. It's like a feeling in the pit of my stomach that says "how about you not?!"
And then there are the 'great' ones, where it could be the life or death factor. One of my worst experiences was not listening to my feeling, and I let a person into my home that my feeling was yelling at me to not do. But my silly head said "what can happen?" I had a stupid head at the moment. The person tried to beat the **** out of me, kill me, and kill themself in front of me. It didn't work, obviously, but I have never doubted my feelings ever sense.
I don't like being blunt like this but every time I hear someone say things like "There is no such thing as coincidence" I can't help but cringe a little.
We are human beings, we are subjected to stuff like confirmation bias. Counting the hits and ignoring the misses. We all have a feeling that something bad might happen every now and then, some more than others. When nothing happens we tend to forget about it. When something does happen we remember and a lot of people attribute it to the paranormal.
Say you have a bad feeling, how many things could justify that feeling? A friend having an accident? A loved one contracting an illness, the death of a pet, losing ones employment etc etc etc you get the idea. Any one of these events, (And there are thousands of events that can qualify as bad) could make someone think they had a premonition.
One should not lose sight that we live in a universe of big numbers. There are over 6 billion people on this planet, who all have many thoughts and feelings every day. It is not at all remarkable that once every while someone has a 'premonition' that turns out to be slightly correct, or even shockingly correct when it comes to the details.
It would be weird if such things didn't happen.
Just my 2 cents.

This may seem contradicting because of what I said prior, but I like the way you think. I love to hear, and to look at both sides of a situation or topic, and I am intrigued by yours. Seriously, you make a very good point. Id like to think that it may make people sit down and really put some thought into stuff. kudos
I agree with ShadowDragon completely. I know it is weird when something happens after one of these feelings, and it seems unique, but I know that there are many times when these feelings come about and are forgotten because nothing happens. I believe that there is some predictability in life, but I do not think that it has anything to do with telling the future more than knowing what a situation is like from past experience.
Then again it could be an upset in the balance of energy in your area at the time and it is possible to be keyed in enough to tell that there is an imbalance. This would just give a feeling and I do not think that any particulars could be drawn from it.

Your points are very interesting. And I think many things are just coincidence that we can make more out of.
None the less, I think this ability in some of us is remarkable. Let's say for example, one is referring to only one incident such as having a dream that it is going to rain and then it does. Thats obviously strong odds either way.
But...When someone randomly has this "strong overpowering" feeling that some particular incident will happen and it does, and even repeatedly than it is more than just chance.
I don't really know what or where I attribute it to, but I feel that sometimes it is more.
That being said, I totally agree with where you are coming from. But I think that there are cases where there is more than meets the eye.
Okay...see that fence over there? I'm gonna go and sit on it now!
I know this ain't much help - but I feel that it's really a 50/50 split.
I do believe in "premonitions"...I know whenever something bad is about to happen, I get this dull "ache" (for lack of a better term) in the pit of my stomach. I believe that things run on a "psychic level" and that sometimes, if we "tune in" to the right frequency, we can actually "feel" that something is about to happen - maybe even know what it is?!
However, even Freud said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." We are not continually locked in to that frequency (or whatever you want to call it) - so sometimes, our being at the right place at the right time (or wrong place at the wrong time) is just a random event.
I'd say, though, if you get some feeling like that - you feel like you know there's something about to happen - TRUST IT! I mean, what's the worst that could happen with that? You'd be removing your family/loved ones from a location where you feel a "bad vibe", and...nothing happens? The "evacuation" was for nothing? Eh - you know what they say - better safe than sorry.
