March 20th is Ostara this year. The spring equinox-- one of two days of the year where the time of daylight and night are equal. The first day of Spring. A day of balance and unity. Persephone returns home to the Earth from the Underworld.
What does it mean to you and how will you celebrate it?

Well, luckily, its quite nice here, unlike a few weeks ago. So I will get out of the house today, as soon as my toddler wakes herself...bout ready to drag her butt out of bed
*smiles* What does it mean to me? Well, early this morning six beautiful kittens were born into my home. New life definately has a new meaning for me this year. I'm so happy and grateful for the beautiful gift the gods have sent me.
May the holidays roll over and die, I will now eternally be a bah humbug! No Christmas, no Thanksgiving, no Halloween, no Easter, may the holidays end forever! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

what it means to me is,that all things that make life grow and prosper are uniting. that mother earth is awakening to unite with father sky. it is raining,so i'm limited to what i can enjoy outside. i'm not even complaining about that though, usually we don't get that much rain this time of year. but when the rain slows down to a mist, lots of birds come to the bird feeders. it's a beautiful site seeing them sit in the trees, there are about 15 that come out at a time. i think just feeding the birds and watching them enjoy it is celebration enough for me. i'm giving to nature and mother earth's children are allowing me to watch. here is a moth that has been hanging out on our porch since yesterday. anyone know what kind it is?
last year, just days before fall began, there was also a moth that hung out on our porch. it was a different moth and it died after a couple of days. now here it is,another season beginning and there is another moth on our porch.
Just what you said, Mama, - a moment of balance before the wheel turns further If I was in Russia, that would be the day to officially greet Spring into our lives, but here in CA spring is well on its way to the peak, so all I will do is enjoy light rains and listen to the birds at our feeders and around. They almost eat and sing at the same time And our patio becomes greener and bears more flowers by the day
Dev, I don't know what kind of moth it is, but it's very pretty!
Connie, hope spring will show up soon at your place.
Hakuna, congrats on new kittens! What a way to celebrate the day!

Thank you all for responding!! I love hearing how my other Smackers are doing things.
Ok, I'll tell ya what I am doing-- what I've done so far today and what is next on the agenda.
I had to work today so when I got up, I said a Good Morning and Thank You to the Lady for waking up. My perch at work overlooks the lake (I'm on the marina docks this part of the year) so I watched the osprey flying around and catching the fish. The ducks are all out teaching their young and the snakes are slipping into the water. The otter aren't moving too much right now for some reason. Anyway, it was 69 degrees and a beautiful day after strong thunderstorms last night. Each chance I got, I would step out the door and just take in the gorgeous view, noticing how all the trees suddenly bloomed overnight.
Before I came to work, I started my egg for my egg ceremony this evening. Here's how it's done:
take one or more boiled eggs (I chose 2, one to eat and one to sacrifice)-- draw symbols on the eggs of what you are wanting to 'blossom' in your life..... hearts, dollar signs, etc.... do them as simple or as elaborate as you choose.
pick a fresh bloomed flower-- all I could find was one dandelion but it will work just fine.
I go back to the office at work from 6pm until 8pm so a little after 7pm (after the actual time of the equinox) I will take the blossom and blow into it all the negative energies that I want released from my life. I will throw both the egg and the bloom out into the water as a sacrifice to the Lady and the Lord.
Blessings to you all~~~~

Spring is my most very favorite time of year! Here in the Northwest, we experience quite dramatic seasonal changes, so Spring is welcomes with open arms as everything comes back to life and the days get warmer and longer, after the long and cold winter months. The daffodils and ornamental cherry trees are all in bloom now, which makes me feel awakened and excited to be able to get back outside in nature to work in my yard.....serenity for my soul!!
Happy Spring to you all!!

Spring has never been a good season for me. I went to work today with a attitude from the start. Then found out that my coworkers were 'ing over who got to go to the bathroom first. And then I got to stand for two hours straight for a line of customers to over pricing and then at me over the federal copyright laws. This was followed by a woman who decided to let her children run around and on everything they put their muddy hands on. After a little while, I 'd late running orders with emotions. Half-way through my day I heard my Sweetness' voice and things just their way to better things. It was like heaven sent me in a small way.
So, this spring I am choosing to see that life brings change. And, I am going to celebrate it! This from nature, this beauty of color and fragrance. I am going to tight to this hope and promise of new and better things!
