Thanks for the post... I just wanted to add that the WICCA info on the top thread was really a help for me, so thanks whoever posted.

Witches meet in central park. Well doesn't every religious entity or faculty have a meeting place? Perhaps during the witching hour..heehee

See now for me to go into any sorcery which was influenced by my catholic mother, then I would be one cooked goose.... because of my profound faith now. Very delicate problem indeed.... but I love this site and although I may not admit it I do know where my normal comfort zone has always been..... change is a good thing? Change is hard, hella damn~

Love is for suckers, and hope is for fools.

Greetings,

Leo Louis Martello, now there is an interesting fellow!
He was a self-proclaimed Witch, born in Dudley, Mass, He grew up in the Worcester/Southbridge Mass area. Raised Catholic, took avid interest in fortune telling, being drawn to palmistry and graphology. His grandmother, Maria Concetta was known as a "strega".
He obtained his degree as a "Doctor of Divinity".
He wrote many books on the subject of witchcraft.
He founded the "Witches Liberation Movement" and the "Witches International Craft Assoc.(which was originally called "Witches Institute of Craft Arts"
In 1974 he published, what I consider his best work, "Witchcraft; The Old Religion"

"The Way of the river is flowing down the mountain's side and winding its way through the valley. And the Way of the cat is curling up in a soft and sunny spot. My Way leads me to solitude on the mountain's edge.

Finding your Way is not a difficult task. It is already there before you. You just need to close your eyes and let it be."

Greetings Mama,
He really was a very interesting fellow, there is much I didn't post.

And just think-- the following was written in 1973 (one year prior to my starting my path):

The following is an extract from his book: Witchcraft: The Old Religion (Seacaucus, N.J. University Books, 1973):

"In the Craft, there is no hard dogma. Hard drugs are forbidden. Mindless morons can't be a compliment to our Mother Goddess. Sex is sacred, not something to be exhibited at a peep show. Power is something personal, not to be used over others, which is contrary to Craft ethics. Those who think the Old Religion will make them masters over others are slaves to their own self-delusions. A happy person is always a powerful person and is hated by those who aren't. A happy person is in many ways selfish; in the Craft we must protect our best interests and ensure that the power that comes from joy remains constant, knowing that none of us are immune from the vicissitudes of life, but that our Old Religion will help us handle and adversity. The Craft has survived for thousands of years. After everything else has come and gone, it will remain. And one day, in the coming Age of Aquarius, there will once again be magnificent temples to the Goddess".

Those are the words of the Wise Elders that once taught us are ways. We should be ashamed of the folly our Religion has become. We soooo need to go back to our beginning grass roots!
