I believe that dark witchcraft is more of a practice toward stuff that shouldn't be used in the art of witchcraft, I dont have alot of knowledge on this stuff but thats just what I believe when I hear dark witchcraft.

just out of curiousity were do you draw the line for dark and light because anubis was the guardian of unwanted souls OR ORPHANS in eygptian lore but was also the guardian of the underworld

up until this century, when "Wicca" filled with "Harm None" philosophies, witchcraft was often a balance of both dark and light practices. There must always be balance in all things in order for unity to occur.

A dear friend of mine definitely practices on the "dark" side of things. He's an archaeologist by trade, and so he speaks with the dead quite often. And indeed, balance is quite important, both within and without. It can be too easy to lose one's grip on sanity and reality if one focuses too much on one side of majik or another. Of course, we all have the areas in which we are particularly talented, but we have to remember not to fully immerse ourselves in that and only that, all the time. That's simply a recipe for trouble. In my friend's case, too much time on the "dark side" leads him to become quite self-destructive and also to throw what can be a very uncomfortable energy, which only makes things worse because it repels things (people and familiars alike), which serves to make him feel isolated and to then slip further along that downward spiral. It can be a real bit of work to get him out of that (which, of course, I only assist with when asked). Which is, of course, not to say that it's entirely bad. It enables both of us to practice our skills and to feel a good sense of accomplishment when things WORK. But I have often wondered how much of "his" energy ends up being channeled and then wasted when things go that way. Now, my personal danger (on the flip side) is potentially ending up spending too much time with my head in the clouds, which is not necessarily self-destructive, but it does tend to fray the edges of sanity when I fall out of them. I have to learn balance just as much as he does. Anyway, my two cents. \V/ Crowned Queen Incense by Queen of Crowns \V/ Time to do what's best for me, I believe I can change...
