My sister just called me during the 2nd quarter of the superbowl.
"Hi, I have a slight problem"
Me thinking she needs someone to watch her bird or dog or that her and her boyfriend fought too hard...
"I am st St Mary's Hospital and I am about to be transfered to Yale because I have an Aneurysm... again and it has seeped"
me: speechless
about 15 or so years ago my sister had a brain aneurysm, went through the surgery and obviously survived fine... until now.
I am scared. Her doctor of before does not want to do the surgery because of the risk factor behind a second brain surgery. He is transfering her to Yale because they are more experienced in this. I am on edge, and do not know what to do. There is nothing I can do right now except wait for the phone to ring to find out more.
Yes.. I was relieved that my sister called me. She at least is alert and aware enough to do that. But the risks of leaking brain aneurysms.. the risk of the surgery.. the risk that my sister who helped raise me may umm.. not make it through... f*ck.
Please say a prayer, light a candle, whatever it is you do, for my sister.
Thanks, Connie

sweet birdie - you have been through entirely too much, as has your sister. i will light a candle for her and send all of you positive, healing vibes. can you pm her name to me please? i love you dear sweet girl, kat
I will tell you her name.. it is a funny story really.
I have said here I was adopted by my maternal Grandparents... well they never changed my name when they adopted me. I was named after one of my moms kids and my mom (grandmom). My mother was so excited the adoption was going through that she never stopped to think she now had 2 kids named Connie.
Yea.. it is my sister who I was named after. Connie. If you need her last name I will pm you. Thanks Kat.
I really want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and kindness.

Oh Birdie, I'm sooo sorry to hear about your sister. It IS great that she was able to call ya, but damn if those aneurysms aren't scarey. She had one before that was taken care of? Is it in the same area? Obviously she had some symptoms, do you know what they were? Sorry about the questions, but sometimes through conversations we can set our worries at ease. It's still something you don't mess around with.
I'm sending you and your sister lots of love, thoughts and prayers. You two will get through this and you have your Smack family to help. We loves ya, Birdie. ((((hugs))))
For this one, my sister told me she was taking a shower and got an excruciating pain in her head and knew something was wrong. She had her boyfriend take her to the hospital and found out she had the aneurysm and the pain was caused because the leakage.
The last one she had she had headaches, and then her face/eye started sagging like a stroke victim. That one did not leak, and the Dr's were able to remove it without a problem.
I just called the hospital because I got tired of not knowing anything, and the nurse told me she was sleeping. She also told me they might decide to do a radiation treatment instead of surgery. They will not know how to treat it until after she has an angiogram (sp) later today.
Now I am off to look up more on this radiation treatment thing.
Thanks again everyone. It is comforting knowing the family is here
