i just got a call from my mom. my grandfather has had a major stroke. they are at the hospital right now, having all the tests run. his eye is drooping badly, and water is constantly running from it. they are afraid he will lose it. mom will know more later today. his doctor is my mom's, and so know the family very well. he told mom that it happened around tuesday, and he didn't tell anyone because he is giving up. please send a prayers to ease him, if that is indeed what is happening. i just don't know what i am going to do. this is the grandfather that has helped raise me, and we aer very close. and now autumn is close to him too.

I'll be keeping him in my thoughts. I know what it's like to have someone that close start to drift away.

Well, doc says there is no bleeding in the brain. His right eye is still watering, and they were afraid it was going to die. The eye doc says no, and put him on 3 different meds. Mom says he just looks sad. I am afraid to send the girls down there this summer, if he lasts that long.......

Grandma passed away in '04, and he just hasn't been the same since. He has a problem with his legs. They keep giving out, and the docs have said he needs to use a walker. He's a proud Scotsman, and doesn't want to admit he is losing control of his body, and its functions, if you catch my drift. When grandma was alive, they lived together, and now that she is gone, he can't live by himself.

I am very sorry to hear about your grandfather. I am sending you and your family all the prayers and positive vibes I can.
I know how it is to watch someone you are very close to drift away slowly. We (my family) watched my grandmother slowly drift away for over seven years due to complications from diabetes and parkinson's disease.
