It’s Memorial Day here in the USA, thanks to all the dedicated service people over the years who have volunteered their lives to keeping our freedom.

I’m sad to say it’s also a personal memorial day, my mom passed this weekend after a long illness with bone cancer. She was tough though, outlived her diagnosis. But I’m glad she’s now at peace. She was a public school teacher. I’d appreciate thoughts for my dad, he’s 80, they were married 47 faithful years and isn’t taking the separation well.

If it's any consolation, I know how you feel. I recently lost my little cousin in the most unfortunate of circumstances...she was only ten.

i'm so sorry donna. i know words are little consolation but my heart goes out to you and your family. your mom is testing her wings right this second and watching over all of you. we never truly die honey.

Me too. My uncle's not taking it too well, it's kind of hard to live with the knowledge that you outlived your own child, especially when she was so young. And the fact that my aunt stole thousands of dollars from the funeral donations doesn't necessarily mitigate the pain, so much as it has lain salt in my uncle's wounds.

People can be so cruel. :/

I'm so sorry to hear the news and about your aunt. I cannot imagine having to deal with that kind of pain, let alone having more pain added to the family from such a selfish act.

Your family continues to be in my thoughts.

Oh Vinnie, I am soo sorry. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that I care and can certainly understand your pain. Is Dad ok, healthwise? Not to pry, but if he's healthy his grieving process will be much easier, not that it's EASY at all. Watch over him carefully, Vinnie. He was with your Mom a long time and such a huge void could make Dad think and do weird things. Two years ago, I may have thought differently, but once you go through the death of a parent, child or even a sibling, your perspective changes and you'll never be the same again.

My heart and thoughts are will you, Vinnie. Please take care of yourself.
