Which ignorance? The ignorance that people think we should not teach evolution in schools? Or the ignorance that some people believe we evolved from monkeys?

Nobody believes we evolved "from monkeys". And yes, the ignorance I was referring to is the ignorance of people who think that scientific facts should be kept out of schools because it makes their beliefs look bad.

I would dare to say that a solid percent of the "educated" population believes that the theory of human evolution stems from primates. Most people do not understand any beliefs but their own, and among them a good deal do not even understand their own.

If they would just teach evolution in schools, maybe that misconception would be less common.

ok wats so wrong with the evolution thing, theres mor proof about evolution that humans just "materializing" because "GOD" wished it so.
and another thing ppl are so closed minded, they cant accept challenges to what they believe to be the "truth"
yeah ok.
i'm no evolutionist, but it seems more probable to me, humans are traced back many millennium..what the hack do ppl think cave men are, ALIENS! good grief.
humans weren't created perfect in a wave of a finger.. sheet....humans are WAY far from perfect.. we never were, we never will be.
we are all unique thats what makes the world so interesting, otherwise we wouldn't have such things as this to talk about
hah

Their "beliefs" have no place in a science classroom. What else should we teach kids in their science class? Should we teach them that the Earth is flat and rests on the back of a giant tortoise, around which the sun revolves? Should we teach them that contagious diseases are caused by proximity to "unholy" people, rather than by viral or bacterial infection? Where would you propose we draw the line to acquiesce these people's desire to have their children taught "beliefs" rather than facts?
If these people want their kids to learn about "creationism", they can take them to Sunday school.

You forgot the elephants.
But I agree, I am in college to learn, not be fed. When I want to learn biology, I take a biology class. When I want religion, I take theology. If my biology teacher starts talking about divine creation, I have him fired.

For this, you rock.

Wait wait... you mean the Earth DOESN'T sit on the back of a tortoise?
Seven brides serve me seven sins Seven seas writhe for me From Orient gates to R'lyeh Abydos to Thessaly And Sirens sing from stern But now I cease to play For I yearn to return To woodland ferns Where Herne and his wild huntress lay ------------ Damon Salvatore: What's so special about this Bella girl? Edward's so wipped. Caroline Forbes: You have to read the first book first, otherwise it won't make sense. Damon Salvatore: Uh, I miss Anne Rice, she was so on it. Caroline Forbes: Hey, how come you don't sparkle? Damon Salvatore: Because I live in the real world where vampires burn in the sun. Caroline Forbes: Yeah, but you go in the sun. Damon Salvatore: I have a ring, it protects me. It's complicated." http://the-dark-gift.deviantart.com/ http://www.myspace.com/the_dark_giftxxx
