It's been fishy from the beginning. Apparently, the pre-election polls showed majority support for Mousavi and during the elections, a large number of people were stopped from going to vote or were turned away at the polls. (Much like what happened in FL back in 2000.) When you add it all up, it certainly does look like Ahmadinejad has turned dictator.
Also, if you use Twitter, there's someone that's managed to open up a proxy server in Tehran and has been successfully tweeting from there. If you want to help the protesters get the word out, you can RT @elvenkayt: New proxy for iranian protestors 128.112.139.28 port 3124 and also, if you want to keep updated on what's going on, follow http://twitter.com/persiankiwi They update constantly on what's going on in Tehran.

Or search for #Iranelection, #Tehran, and #Moussavi on Twitter. There were/are several people tweeting from Iran: @onlymehdi and @iran_change are the other two who are atill ok. Musavi is tweeting too: @mousavi1388. They are changing names and proxy nodes which is understandable, but if you follow hashtags, you will be able to keep up with changes.
Thanks for that, Coffee... I usually don't bother with hashtags so I wasn't aware of the others. I only know of these from Neil Gaiman. persiankiwi is updating like a mofo! It's so sad to read.

Or much like what happened this past election with the Black Panthers guarding the polls while ARMED.

But were the Black Panthers actually stopping people from voting?

Well, I guess that's debatable. But to "guard" the entrance to the polls with billyclubs and intimidate voters. I probably believe that they scared some people off.

Meh. People not having balls enough to walk past a couple of guys with sticks and/or not reporting such people to authorities is really more the fault of the "voters".
What happened in Florida and what happened in Iran is people being physically detained by authorities. Two different situations.

This **** is crazy! It's like watching Tiennamen unfold in front of your eyes...I can't describe what that was like at age 9. But I remember the last live broadcast and then the next night on the news I saw the crackdown begin. It was crazy.
This is sick! I've sat on #iranelection for five minutes, and I've refreshed it several times, its had over FIFTEEN HUNDRED posts since I started watching it.
