The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? - xterm

Haha very nice! Even though I have never watched Twilight nor will I ever watch it. If the movie ended like that I would so watch it just for that ending.

“What’s so special about this Bella girl? Edward’s so whipped” - Damon

“How come you don’t sparkle?” - Caroline

“Because I live in the real world were vampires burn in the sun” - Damon

~ The Vampire Diaries

Seven brides serve me seven sins
Seven seas writhe for me
From Orient gates to R'lyeh
Abydos to Thessaly
And Sirens sing from stern
But now I cease to play
For I yearn to return
To woodland ferns
Where Herne and his wild huntress lay
------------
Damon Salvatore: What's so special about this Bella girl? Edward's so wipped.
Caroline Forbes: You have to read the first book first, otherwise it won't make sense.
Damon Salvatore: Uh, I miss Anne Rice, she was so on it.
Caroline Forbes: Hey, how come you don't sparkle?
Damon Salvatore: Because I live in the real world where vampires burn in the sun.
Caroline Forbes: Yeah, but you go in the sun.
Damon Salvatore: I have a ring, it protects me. It's complicated."

How Twilight should have ended:

Roll opening credits

The End

Roll closing credits.

If that how it ended my $7.00 would not have been wasted.

WTH people? These are good books. Just because a lot of people like them, including the younger jet set, doesn't make them bad or stupid. These are really good books. Well written, and addictive. I read all four of them in less than a week because they are THAT good. I couldn't put them down. I'm pretty damn pissed about the whole Midnight Sun thing actually because I could read on and on forever. And the movie was pretty damn good too dammit. It's a beautiful love story. Who cares about the vampire part (even tho there ain't a damn thing wrong with that either) and whatever. These are future classics. Man, it pisses me off to see people rag on things (I.E. Harry Potter) because it's extremely popular ot the younger crowd are into it. Who cares? If you haven't read all the books AND seen the movie AND will see all four movies (which ain't even possible yet), then you really shouldn't be ragging on anything. Stephanie Meyer is a great author and the movie is well directed and riveting. If you haven't taken the time to explore it, don't say anything. I hate that. Read the books, watch the movie, then come back here and call them stupid if you really feel that way. But I doubt it.

The vampires sparkle instead of, you know, burning to dust in the sunlight. You can't just take a well-established mythical creature like a vampire and completely rewrite half of what they're about. You don't see zombie movies where the Zeds get together and play Foosball on Friday nights, because everyone knows that's not what they are and if they did that it'd be dumb.

WOW Crystal!!! Thank you!! You are totally right in saying that most people who are ragging on the books haven't actually read them. I was totally against getting into them because I just didn't have time. But back in March/April, I took a long road trip to Kentucky and needed some reading material. So I bought Twilight. And from them on, I was HOOKED. And I mean hooked. I became so completey immersed in the books. My life revolved around those books! I finished New Moon in 1 day. 1 day! And then had my hubby go to Wal mart at 11 at night to get me Eclipse because I didn't want to have to wait to read it. And to further my obessession, I have a date with 2 of my girlfriends on 19 November for a movie theater viewing of Twilight at 9, and then a midnight viewing of New Moon Smiler I can hardly wait! Everyone's like "Oh, vampires don't sparkle" bla bla bla, well in these books, they do. Vampires aren't real so where are the rules that states they can't sparkle? Yes, they are books geared towards a younger crowd, but it's also a beautiful love story. And there's more to them than just that. The books are REALLY good and really hard to put down.

I like them, too. I like the fact that she took a risk by changing the "rules". I get so dang tired of reading the same thing.

Don't get me wrong. I love a good vamp story, with "rules." Heck, Bram's "Dracula" is still my number 1 book/movie of all time. But there is only so much you can do with them, LOL

I read the books and I enjoyed them. I just hated the movie. As a former film student I had a TON of problems with the screenplay, the editing, the cinematography, the score, I just feel like the movie was poorly put together.

I was hoping I'd be able to get out of seeing New Moon with my best friend (I won't be in town opening day), she wants to see it 2 times, once with me, so we'll see if I can get out of it.
